Frequently Asked Questions

Mixing is the process of shaping, balancing, and blending all individual tracks of the project into one cohesive stereo mix. This is the most detailed and creative stage, where every track is treated individually.
Stem mastering is ideal when a mix is nearly finished, but still needs some work across specific elements. Instead of working with one stereo file, I work from a set of grouped stems (like drums, bass, vocals, synths, keys etc). This allows for more control between elements than with than stereo mastering, without returning to a full mix session.
Stereo mastering is the final step before release, where the stereo mix is processed with subtle moves for improving tonal balance, dynamics, loudness, and translation across all playback systems
